Cowboys get NFL approval to remodel AT&T Stadium, do they want the 2026 World Cup Final?
Jerry Jones' palace, opened in 2009, will receive a $295 million investment
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants his sports palace, AT&T Stadium, to host the U.S.-Mexico-Canada 2026 World Cup final and, to that end, he submitted a stadium remodeling project to the NFL for approval.
During the league's annual winter meeting, the NFL owners approved the plan presented by Jerry Jones to invest $295 million in improvements to the stadium, without providing details as to the areas in which this project will be applied.
The AT&T Stadium remodeling project
After the meeting, Jerry Jones gave more information about his proposal, although he did not accept that his main motivation is to bring the most important game in world soccer to Arlington, Texas.
"That was the intention all along: to keep it better than new," Jerry Jones said. "That's what we're trying to do. Primarily, it's taking some of the areas that we can really make more efficient, some of the concession stand locations. Also, we intend to update and replace anything that looks dated. We want it to look like it did on day one."
What the controversial mogul did advance is that the clarity of the stadium's video screen, once the largest of its kind on the entire planet, will be improved.
